About Founder: Adebola Salako

Adebola Salako is the Founder and Programme Coordinator of this laudable cause. She was born as a third child into the family of Mr & Mrs Salako both indigenes of Kwara state on 13th May in the mid-eighties. Adebola started her childhood in Lagos state passing through Mary Magdalene Nursery & Primary school in Gbagada and University of Lagos Staff School in Akoka.

She then moved to Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Igogbo, Ikorodu for her secondary school education, where she had 11A’s and 1C in her Junior West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination, making her the second best student in her class. She continued her senior secondary education and was made the Female Senior Prefect due to her hard work and discipline. Adebola eventually graduated from secondary school with all A’s in nine subjects.

In December 2001, Adebola commenced her tertiary education in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago- Iwoye (formerly known as Ogun State University) to study Biochemistry. She graduated with a first class degree making her the first female student to achieve this feat in the history of the department of Biochemistry. Adebola’s commitment to ensuring children succeed cannot be overemphasized. During her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation programme in Yobe State, she gathered a few of her friends to purchase necessary items for a few children in Fika community of the state.

Her quest to ensure every child has access to quality education regardless of the parental pedigree or source of livelihood; led her to the conception of Mantle of Mordecai, Foundation popularly known as MOM Foundation in August 2012 as an inspiration from God Almighty. From then till now she has never looked back and has relentlessly ensured she gets as many people involved in this calling as humanly possible. There are currently about thirty (30) children benefiting from MOM. She is a deep lover of children and her country; her innermost desire is to ensure the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria is reduced to the barest minimum (as at 2014 Nigeria’s population of out-of-school children has grown to 10.5 million which is the highest in the world- UNICEF data).

Despite running MOM, Adebola also has a burgeoning career in Risk Management, Business Assurance and Internal Auditing spanning over five years and neither her work nor MOM suffers as she gives her all into everything she does. She is passionate about life and making an impact in anything she does. She believes life is too short and will be uneventful until every individual “pays forward” goodness and kindness in any way possible. Adebola lives her life daily by the astute words of Mohammed Gandhi and Nelson Mandela that says "if we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children” and “there can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children” respectively.
